Happenings!

I need to preface this post with a disclaimer saying that I realize some of my pictures are blurry. For some reason our camera decided to start taking blurry pictures. But, I got a tip from Corey this morning that I might be getting a new camera for Mother's Day! So, that will be exciting. Anyway, I wanted to just write a quick update on us and post a bunch of pictures from the past six weeks. We have been doing well! We sold our VW vanagon and now we are trying to sell our treadmill. We are basically going to try to get rid of everything we can before we move, because we don't want to have to pay to move stuff (junk) across the country. So, we will probably be having a yard sell in about two months, so look forward to that, and I'll keep you posted. We have exactly three months until we move, and we are still in limbo with how we are going to afford graduate school. We have to wait until May 9th, when Corey can register for his classes before we can get some answers from financial aide. And, we are still waiting to hear back about two stipends. Corey has also looked into the Army Reserves, and so far that looks like the best option. We have put in all the paperwork (TONS, and TONS) and we are waiting for Corey's weigh-in to be scheduled sometime in the next two weeks. So, cross your fingers and send a few prayers our way.

 Addie asked me the other day, "Mom, what's your dream?" (She got that from "Tangled"). It made me want to cry, cause I've had a lot of dreams in my life and I've been blessed to accomplish them! But, Corey going to Nurse Anesthesia school has been our dream since I met him seven years ago. Addie has been having a hard time with accepting that we are going to move. About two weeks ago, she said, " I don't want to go to North Carolina, I will miss my grandma, so let's just not go, okay"! So, when she asked me what my dream was it was a perfect opportunity to tell her that Daddy going to school is our dream and that we have to move to North Carolina to do it.  We are being careful about what we say around her and trying to keep our emotions in check so that she will handle this move without getting too upset.

 Other than that, our kids are growing and changing everyday. Jack is five months today! The time has flown by, and he grabs for EVERYTHING! He only rolls over when he wants too, and he is working on sitting up. He has started eating solids, and loves the sweet foods, like sweet potatoes and banannas. Adelynn has learned how to write an A, and she draws pictures, and stays busy with projects everyday.

 We went to G & G Anderson's two weeks ago (Addie calls her Grandma with the Puppy Dogs), and we had an Easter egg hunt. She was excited to find this egg!

Jack's Blessing Day!

This past Sunday, on the 20th, we blessed Jack Corbin Anderson. He is almost 4 months old, but we waited to bless him so that it would be nice weather, and all the family could come. It was a great day with lots of family, and fun celebrating Jack's birth and life. He is a chunky baby, and he barely fit in his blessing outfit, but we made it work. :) I thought I would add a few pictures from the day.

Whining!

For those of you who don't have your own children crying and throwing fits, I thought you might enjoy this. Adelynn was dressed in her Cinderella dress, and I thought it would be nice to do her hair in two ponytails for the day. Mostly because I'm sick of her hair looking like a mop. Regardless, I got done and had her look in the mirror at how cute she looked, and I'll let the video show her response:

Cruising Along!

So, I haven't been better at blogging like I had hoped. But, oh well! We had an excuse to get dressed up for Valentine's Day, because my cousin got married on that day! So, most of the pictures below are from then. I just added a few others that I liked too. Between Corey and I we have just been working, taking care of two kids, and preparing for our big move in August. We have been stressing about the details of HOW we are going to afford graduate school. We have always thought that we would just take out some student loans, and pay them off later. Simple enough, right? But, since the economy has been a mess the past few years the federal government took over all student loans. Basically, they have put a cap on the amount of loans that you can take out, and it's based on the amount that the university sets as the expected cost of attendance. I will spare you the details, but essentially we are looking for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. So, if any of you have any suggestions, we are open to any ideas. We have explored several options: working closely with financial aid, scholarships, and living out of our hippy van for two years. Our most recent attempt at getting financial help is a stipend through an anesthesiology group in North Carolina. They would help support us through school if Corey works for them for three years after school. It is actually a win/win, because then he would have a job coming out of school, and we would get the financial help we desperately need! So, we are crossing our fingers and praying that route will work out for us. Other than that, we have been enjoying our new addition to the family. And, lately Adelynn has been looking out the window and saying, "Mom, It's Spring!" We can't wait for it to warm up, so we can play at the park, and go for walks.

A New Year!

As most of you know, I am not the best at blogging. In fact whenever I do blog it is mostly pictures. I am going to try to do better this year! It is just hard to find time to do anything when you have a newborn that ALWAYS wants to be held. :-)

Our little family had an eventful 2010, overall one of the best years of my life! Last January Corey told me that his resolution was getting into a nurse anesthesia program. I am going to be honest, I didn't think it would happen. Mostly because it's so competative. But, I should of had more faith in him being very qualified! We only needed to apply to three schools: Mayo Clinic, Charleston Area Medical Center(CAMC), and Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia. To make a long story short, he was accepted to CAMC, and Raleigh. Going to Raleigh, North Carolina was our first pick, so we will be leaving the first week in August to move to N.C. for at least two years! We are very excited for the challenges ahead of us, and I must say that I am SO proud of Corey. He has jumped through so many hoops and worked so hard for this!

We found out that Corey was accepted to Raleigh on November 29, 2010, and the next day our baby boy was born (November 30th, at 10:57 p.m.)! We had a lot of excitement in just a few days, and we are feeling so blessed and grateful to our Heavenly Father. Many of you already know that my labor and delivery went very well, in fact I was shocked at how great it was! However, the nurse- midwife informed us that the placenta had a velamentous cord insertion. She just kept saying we were lucky to have Jack, and that the condition is very rare. When I was able to look it up on the internet, and read other peoples stories I couldn't stop crying. Most people who have that condition with the placenta end up having a stillborn. I thought I was over all the crying, until I went to my six week check-up (this past Monday). I asked my nurse-midwife about the placenta again, and she said, "You are lucky to have Jack, a few weeks ago I had a lady who was 38 weeks pregnant, and we couldn't find the heartbeat of the baby. She and her husband had three girls, and this was going to be their little boy. Their baby died in utero, and when it was born the placenta had the same condition, I kept thinking about you and Corey". Well, I started crying, she was crying...I asked her how she does her job, and she said, "When it's good, it is really good, but when it's bad, it's really bad". I spent the rest of the day in an emotional state, feeling sad for those who have lost their babies and overwhelmed that Jack is such a miracle.
