Our ward had an Elder's Quorom get together with all the families and had a Pine Wood Derby race. It was a lot of fun! Corey didn't have much success though. He had spent a lot of time on his car a few weeks ago. He had it cut out and painted. So, all he needed were the wheels and weights on. Well, he procrastinated, and didn't end up putting the car together until about two hours before the event, because I made him. I found out the hard way that it takes a lot of effort to just stick on the wheels and weights. It didn't take long before he was giving up on the whole deal. But, we went anyway, and he ran his car. It didn't get stuck on the track! But, it was one of the slower cars. In the end, he won the "Best Fuel Economy" prize, for having the slowest car. Even though Corey didn't do very well there is a happy ending. My home-girl, Diana, made a car and she won 2nd PLACE! I was so proud of her, and her mad skills.

As for our lives, things have gotten crazy this week. I've been overwhelmed with school, housework, and chasing Adelynn, but I am thankful that the Lord has given us a day of rest, and that's exactly what I am doing!

It's so interesting that when I found out I was having a girl, I was elated, because I wouldn't have the foggiest idea what to do with a boy. However, with most Mother/Daughter relationships there tends to be a time period where it turns into a love/hate situation. I know that Adelynn loves me, and I love her to pieces. I tell her all the time that she is my best friend, next to Dad, of course. Especially on the weekends when it is just Addie and I, while Dad is at work and sleeping. I'm bored out of my mind in this small town, but without her, I think I would lose my mind.

Anyway, the other night she got mad at me because I took a piece of garbage away from her. Once I realized she was playing with it, I set it back on the coffee table for her to play with. However, she had no idea that I had put it there. She walked into the kitchen and BIT my upper thigh as hard as she could. It hurt, bad! Instantly, I grabbed her and spanked her. I went to go put her in time out, and she started crying. So, we had a crying moment and talked it all through. This whole time Corey is laughing because she has never bit him. After things calmed down a little, I began feeling the pain. I had to take a look at it. Come to find out, she had bit through my sweat pants, my garments, and it was bleeding. Full on bleeding! Corey started making jokes about how my garments should of protected me.

I was so shocked, I had to take a picture and make a blogging moment out of it. But, I think that the thing I learned the most was that kids have their own ways of communicating when they can't talk. So watch out!

This is what the past week has consisted of, a sick child for seven days. She just wanted to be held, I couldn't get anything done. I am so glad she's running around playing now.

I realize this is a post about Corey's birthday and most of the pictures are of Adelynn. I had more pictures of Corey, but he wouldn't let me post them. The one of his Mom giving him 26 spankings is hilarious, but he said that his gut was showing. Anyway, he puts it this way, "I'm finally as old as my old lady"!

1. If Adelynn doesn't get over her sickness soon, it is going to push me over the edge. There is nothing like a sick child in the house to test my patience. I love her, and want her to get feeling better.



2. I have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), but it's usually under control! :) And, it's my Dad's fault, he did this to me.



3. I LOVE eating eggs and potatoes! I would eat an egg sandwich for breakfast every morning and a baked potato for dinner every night if Corey would let me. Unfortunalty Corey isn't a fan of potatoes and eggs everyday.



4. I adore my students and as I was driving to school this morning I thought about how I just need to tell them more often that I love them.



5. I very rarely stay awake and interested in movies. I even fell asleep in a movie theater on a first date.

6. I watch a lot of reality TV, just to name a few...The Bachelor, Biggest Loser, True Beauty, and American Idol. Sad, I know, but I fast forward the commercials to cut down on the time wasting.

7. If I could have any job it would be writing books, children's books, and teaching writing to a group of students.

8. I HATE doing my hair, I know that it shows too, but I would rather do anything than do my hair.

9. I am paranoid about EVERYTHING, usually about germs, and the possibility of having a terminal illness. I have a real fear of cancer, strokes, and heart failure.

10. I believe in conspiracies; I refuse to list them because you will all think I have lost my mind. But, just know that I believe there are evil people in power who control much of our world.
