I had anxiety about this vacation for months, I was wondering how I would survive an airplane ride across the country with two young children. I was super nervous about all the things that can go wrong on an airplane. Well, our morning started out at 5:30 a.m. as we walked out the door to see if our ride was there to pick us up. I had all my luggage and my two kids out in the dark and noticed that my car door was wide open. I couldn't figure out why it was open, so instead of running down to the car I just pushed the lock/unlock button on my keys...and a strange man ran out of my car and into the trees. He stared at me and then got in his car and drove off. Needless to say my heart jumped into my throat and my first thought was panic and then, "I can't believe some random dude was in my car and that I caught him!" So, I couldn't call the police, because I had been planning my trip to Utah for a year now, and I wasn't going to miss my flight! Plus, I was lucky enough that he didn't take anything from my car, he just threw stuff around, and he even left my much needed GPS.
So, my ride came and we made it to the airport, as I got through security one of the staff members said, "Once you get through here, go get a cup of coffee". I must of looked like I needed some coffee, but I was feeling like I needed something even stronger than that. :) So, after a quick flight to Atlanta, we were on our plane to SLC. BUT, we waited on the tarmac for 2 hours because President Obama was flying into Atlanta while our plane was trying to fly out. So, we waited and waited, and then we got to see Air Force One! (I didn't get a picture, because I had an aisle seat). But, I saw it! So, we were on our way and then as we were flying into SLC the turbulence was SO bad that the guy sitting next to me kept saying, "I fly A LOT and this is BAD!" I kept seeing mountains and thought for sure we'd run into one. BUT, of course we were fine, minus the fact I was shaking like a leaf and nauseous. After a crazy morning and ride, we made it to UTAH! We were so excited to be there and be surrounded by the people we love, and I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
My sister, Eileen (she's 16 months younger than me) picked us up at the airport.
Adelynn was finally reunited with her cousin Makayla,
they were happy like this for about 24 hours,
and then the fighting began and they fought for the next two weeks.
Jack and Cameron were reunited,
but Jack was pulling on his ear wondering what that airplane ride just did to him.
And, it didn't take long for Jack to realize that Cameron
was someone he could pinch, hit, and bite.
Jack didn't remember very many people, but he didn't forget Aunt Ange!
She's his favorite great-aunt!
Jack, Sawyer, and Cameron playing with trucks.
Jack meeting Captain again, they got along really well!

How crazy someone broke into your car on the very day you were leaving! I'm glad they didn't take anything though. Thanks for the pictures! It was so wonderful to see you while you were here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy start for a vacation! I am glad you guys are back!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't know anything about your crazy trip, but I guess it was old news by the time you saw me. :-)

ReplyDeleteI can't believe you caught that guy in your car...what are the chances? Sounds like a tender mercy to me! But it must have been a stressful start to a wild day. You are a brave woman to fly alone w two little ones. I'm glad you survived and had so much fun!
