Winston-Salem

After our night in Pilot Mountain, we drove a few miles to the historic town of Winston-Salem. It's a very artsy town, and rich with history. We toured the Historic Bethabara, which is an area that the first settlers of the town lived in. They talked about their commitment to living in a place with religious freedom. It was a good reminder that SO many immigrants came to America JUST for religious freedom.

A few pictures from our tour:

For lunch we went to eat at Breakfast of Course, we went on a recommendation and we were VERY pleased! I ate a sandwich called an Apple-Butter Baby (see below)!

and I drank my first "Fizzy Lizzy" (100% juice with carbonation).
Our REAL reason for this trip was to visit our friends who moved all the way from Utah to Winston-Salem for Nurse Anesthesia school. We thought we would stop in and say hi and give them some pointers on how to survive school. BUT, I know they will do awesome and I'm sure we didn't help at all, we just scared them. :) Either way, I didn't get any pictures of their cute family.
